Tip of the Day

Hitting Into The Sun

Learning to relieve and, ultimately, eliminate tension on the golf course is bound to produce positive results. Here?s a practice drill that should help in this regard:

Chances are that if you?re a relatively poor ball-striker, you are generally pre-occupied with the outcome of the shot. That can lead to tension, particularly in the grip. Fortunately, there?s a way around this problem.

When practicing, make sure to hit balls into the setting or rising sun. In these circumstances, it is very difficult to follow the flight of the ball. Therefore, you will be more concerned with your swing and the quality of contact with the ball and not nearly as pre-occupied with the end result of the shot. As a result, you will lighten your grip pressure and hit the ball solidly
