Practice is the key to better sand play. Use the following pointers to build your confidence in bunker play.
Buried lie. Use the sand wedge to cut down into the sand. Square up the clubface and play the ball closer to the right foot.
Downhill lie. Hit 2" to 3" behind the ball. Hit 2" to 3" behind the ball and accentuate the downward portion of the swing.
Play an open stance with the clubface slightly hooded. Swing down and through the ball to prevent a 'skulled' shot.
Uphill lie. Keep your weight left and finish with a firm, deliberate follow-through. Hit closer to the ball.
